Artist statement
Perspective reveals warmth
My photography begins with observation. I’m drawn to familiar places and subjects, often finding that a change in light, atmosphere or vantage point reveals something that might otherwise go unnoticed. The subject itself may be ordinary, but the perspective can change how we experience it.
I approach each photograph with an appreciation for the character of a place and the details that give it meaning. Composition, light and timing are central to my work, but so is knowing when a scene has something more to offer than its immediate appearance.
For me, perspective is what gives a photograph its depth. It can bring warmth to a weathered structure, reveal a quiet moment in a working harbor, or give the viewer a different way of seeing something familiar. My goal is to create photographs that invite a second look, where the atmosphere has presence and the viewer discovers something beyond the subject itself.
